Wideman Pugh Reunion
Wideman Pugh Reunion September 14 2024

“God cares for the Fatherless Children” a short story by Phyllis Schneider (Pugh). I printed the book for the family but did not know that I was directly effected by this story. These children’s father was Thomas Pugh (died 42 yrs old, Grandfather of Phyllis). One of these children was Fred Pugh (father of Phylis). In the story Phylis tells of an Aunt who prayed that these 5 children. The children were placed in community families (Claremont). All the children grew up and served the Lord. That Aunt was my Great Great Grandmother Hannah Wideman (Pugh), mother to Idah Reesor (Wideman). In Fred’s family his daughter Jean married a pastor John Colley, Physllis went to Bible College and became a leader in her church (Breslau Missionary Church) influenced my wife Shirley) his son (Don Pugh) was our Pastor at Altona United Missionary Church. My mother was double Pugh. Hannah Wideman (Pugh) Great Grandmother and Elizebeth Wideman (Pugh) Grandmother. Fred Pugh was her Great Uncle. The Wideman men were all successful farmers and church goers. But it was the fatherless child Fred Pugh and his family that influenced my mother Margret Lewis (Wideman) that effected me. Thank you God for my family who prayed for me. (Gerald Edward Stanley Lewis).

Wideman/ Pugh Family Reunion is cancelled. due to unseen circumstances.(Saturday September 14, 2024) the planned reunion will be postponed indefinitely.. please relay this message to other family members.
I have enjoyed planning this event with other family members: Paul Wideman, Dirk Loose and Barb Pugh, Carolyn Logan, Jennifer Logan, Sharon Love, Beth Martins.
This family meant a lot to my mother Margaret Lewis and my Aunt Luella Logan. they were double Pughs’ their grandmother was a Pugh from the David Pugh line and their great-grandmother was a Pugh from Hugh Pugh family. in her wedding party they were all Wideman/ Pugh cousins.
The core group was not strong enough to pull the whole event together. We lost a lot due to Covid. Our families were catching up with Weddings and vacations.
I have learned a lot about Hannah Wideman Pugh, a devout Christian who raised Fred Pugh and was a Great Grandmother of my mother Margaret Lewis. Just lately I learned that she also raised another child (a daughter) who married a Stover (Stouffville Bakery).
